Today's Protestant Church St. Stephanus is one of the 49 simultaneous churches in the former territory of Count Palatine Christian August von Sulzbach. From 1652 he introduced the Simultaneum, i.e. the use of a church by Protestants and Catholics. The Count Palatine also repealed the regulation that the subjects automatically had the denomination of their regents ("Cuius regio, eius religio" for "wes the prince, des der Glaub"). Before that, the population had changed religion with the respective ruler, in Sulzbach, for example, seven times. The simultaneum often ended at the beginning of the 20th century.
