On July 1, 1888, the section from Hildburghausen to Heldburg with a distance of 24.6 km for passenger and freight traffic was opened, and on December 1 the final line of 4.7 km to Lindenau-Friedrichshall. The journey time was almost two hours for the route and often went through the middle of the village. In 1946 the railway was dismantled and handed over to the former USSR as reparations.

The museum commemorates this railway. Seidingstadt was first mentioned in a document in 800.
