Hello everyone, I'm new here, this is my first comment! I always refer to it as "My Oak" because it inspires awe. In our town, we call it the "Napoleon Oak." The whole cherry blossom trail is highly recommended for beginners like us! Greetings from Dittweiler.

🌿 The "Weisenbaum" (Wise Tree) is a gnarled, sprawling oak with a trunk circumference of over 3.20 meters – a striking witness to past centuries. Its name comes not from its color, but from the old word "weisen" (to point) – because this tree marked the border between Dittweiler and Altenkirchen.

As early as the 17th century, mighty oaks served as living boundary markers. Old court records repeatedly referred to the "Weisenbaum" during border negotiations.

      💡 Tip:

As you continue walking, keep an eye out for other old trees along the trail – not every tree is simply natural; some once represented law and order.
