The 7.50 m high replica of a medieval watchtower standing on the Ohmbach district was built in 2005 below the 375 m high observation mountain "Wartenstein".
According to tradition, an old stone observation tower is believed to be on the prominent hilltop between the Ohmbach and Kohlbachtal valleys. In the Middle Ages, waiting towers served as watch and reporting posts. From the high location in Wartenstein one had a wide view. Approaching dangers could be reported in good time. There was also a line of sight to the nearby Reichsburg in Kübelberg. Today the topographical advantages of the mountain peak are also used. In addition to a high water tank, there has been a mobile radio transmitter on the Wartenstein for a few years.
