Harzer is definitely right, but we as normal hikers only took the sunrise with us and then went up to the Bromo. Of course there are a lot of tourists, but it is very early and on the way to the crater, the influx thins out and the sight compensates for the effort. The crater can't be circled anymore. The ridge to the northwest is very narrow and broken off after some point. It's still nice to walk to the other side of the crater to get some different views. Proper hiking shoes are a must if walking on the ridge. Entrance fee to the national park are 220.000 IDR (320.000 IDR on weekends) for foreigners.
