The striking porphyry granite lies directly in the sharp bend that makes the Eger at the junction to Silberbach to the west. Legend has it that a hunter around 1670 observed a battle scene on the granite rock between a deer and a wolf. The deer threw the wolf into the Eger and then left the steeply rising rock with a big jump.

Hiking

The Hirschsprung is a granite rock at 467 meters. The Eger flows past the Hirschsprung to the storage lake for the Neuhaus power plant and then comes via Königsmühle to the Pfeiffermühle, where it flows in a wide arc around the border town of Hohenberg an der Eger and reaches the Hammermühle.
