The lake near Delliehausen emerged from a roughly two-hectare open-cast mine. Take some time to go around it - embedded in the Solling-Vogler Nature Park, it is worth a visit in any weather.

Lignite and quartz sands have been mined in the area since 1888. In 1911 the opencast mine was initially abandoned, but resumed briefly after the Second World War. In 1948 the Uslar lignite field was finally shut down. What was left was a pit about 300 meters long and 50 meters deep, which slowly filled with water from the Mühlenrodbach and gave rise to today's lake.
The mountain lake has been designated as a natural monument since 1985. It is not allowed to enter the lake with boats. An 800 m long circular path leads around the lake. There is a privately operated campsite on the east bank. There is an artificial beach on the northwest side. 🤗
