    The corn mill 'De Hoop' in Dokkum is an octagonal scaffolding mill and was built in 1849 by Gerrit P. de Boer; the mill was initially also equipped as a peeling mill. The blades of 'De Hoop' have a flight of 22.75 metres, making this one of the largest mills in Dongeradeel. When the mill is running, it can be viewed freely.
