I literally grew up on the Hammeraue because of a former property there. I can say the following: There are a total of three ways of driving up to the parking lot on the Rhine. (Friday to Sunday is, however, closed because of the always too high amount of litter.) For the beautiful corners you should put on comfortable / sturdy shoes and walk a bit and explore - the beach sections are always worth relaxing! Around the Biblis nuclear power plant, which is just a little further, deer can also be seen in abundance. Wild boars, birds of all kinds and snakes can also be found. In spring and summer everything is bright green and really beautiful, so be careful: the nettles grow unrestrained at the beach accesses (partly single trails) and there are tons of ticks, mosquitoes and horseflies because of the old Rhine! 🤭 Protection makes sense. Since some sections are also without shade, sun protection in the form of a hat would not be wrong either. Four aurochs with offspring (May 2021) are standing by the approach to the Rhine in the Groß-Rohrheim district and can be observed between polluted willows. There are easy to walk and cycle paths everywhere. :)

An unbelievably dense and diverse vegetation, simply a wonderful spot to switch off, pause and enjoy.
