Glashütten – Glashütten can look back on a special event this year. The Holy Spirit Catholic Church is 300 years old. The construction of this church is closely linked to the history of Glashütten. Because only 30 years after the founding of their village, the residents have built their own church. The cause was the increasing tension and disputes with the church in Schloßborn. How did this come about? In 1685 twelve families were allowed to settle here; some probably came from the glassworks at Stockborn (below today's streets "Am Pfingstborn" and "In den Wiesen"). They were allowed to keep their denomination, but the children had to be baptized Catholic. When a new church was to be built in Born (Schlossborn) in 1713, the "Glashütters" were forced to perform compulsory labor. The “Glashütters” refused to do this, they decided instead to build their own church. As a building site, they chose a spot where Capuchin Father Martin from Cochem is said to have erected a cross: since the glassworks at Stockborn were not very successful, people were of the opinion that magic was involved.taunus-nachrichten.de/glashuetten/aktuelles/glashuetten/300-years-heilig-geist-kirche-%E2%80%93-330-years-glashuetten-id22235.html

Great area - but everybody has to decide for themselves from a side trip to the church.
