Special features of the Rur reservoir are the Eichert island, the Tonsberg peninsula and the Eschauel peninsula (with a bathing beach of the same name), which can also be reached on foot depending on the water level. The wooded island of Eichert rises as the foothills of the Tonsberg peninsula with its highest point (approx. 318 m above sea level) around 36.5 m above the reservoir (281.5 m) of the Rur reservoir.
