The way to the dead end is worthwhile because of the photo motif alone.

The first in 2001 on the name "St. Katharina zu Groß Vahlberg "baptized church was first documented in the 12th century. The old defense tower and remains of the Romanesque architectural style, however, point to the construction in the 10th or 11th century. [6] The Protestant-Lutheran church is a medieval building with a Romanesque keep tower, in which two grave vaults of the families of Weferlingen and Münchhausen are located. The parish church is already mentioned in 1237. The uniform nave with three quarters was built in 1737 on a Romanesque foundation; Renovations in 1950 were no longer able to save the old mosaic floor, which had Saracen motifs. Inside the church are the tombstones of Charles of Weferlingen (1594), Ulrichs of Weferlingen (1611) and his wife Katharina von Blankenburg. Above the arched entrance is the relief of a bearded man holding a stone over his head with both hands. It is probably of pagan origin.

A really beautiful and powerful church with appropriate outdoor facilities.
