Hidden under a mound of earth, the remains of an old ravelin (wall shield of a fortress) from the 18th century, lies this casemate - a vault in the fortress building protected from artillery fire - which is still partly used by the city of Wesel as a storage room. At the end of the 1990s, the first counts of hibernating bats from the casemate were available. ..."
