The forerunner of Falkenhain Castle was a Slavic moated castle and probably derives from the name Valko. Falkenhain was first mentioned in 1198. For a long time, the palace was the ancestral seat of the von Falkenhain noble family. Later it changed hands several times, who had it remodeled according to their needs. The latter owners included Major Anton von Carlowitz and his son Colonel Georg-Anton von Carlowitz until 1945. (from Wikipedia)
