The glacier cuts (Morlot cuts) are located about 150 m southeast of the summit of the Kleiner Berg, which consists of Hohburg quartz porphyry. During the ice ages, ice masses several hundred meters thick pushed over the mountain. The pieces of rock frozen in the ice scraped over the volcanic rocks in the subsoil and carved the scratches in the rock that are still visible today. The huge inland glaciers of the ice age had their roots in what is now Scandinavia. These scratches can be used to reconstruct the direction of the glacier's flow.
