I quote the notice board at the donkey fountain:"A few meters in front of the donkey fountain is the so-called" Murderer's Cross "from 1616. According to legend, a grandfather was murdered on his farm. The cross between the numbers stands for three cruisers, which they only captured in this cowardly attack. The donkey fountain is directly related to the legends surrounding the foundation of the All Saints Monastery, which, according to legend, was carried out by the Duchess Uta von Schauenberg. According to a dream of Uta, the monastery was to be built where a donkey threw off its sack of gold. On the way from the Schauenburg the donkey reached this place, and after it got thirsty it pawed until a spring bubbled. Then he ran in the direction of St. Ursula. This source was later taken and given a memorial stone with the following wording:ANNO 1161 A DONKEY WAS CARRIED OUT HERE, FROM WHOSE HOOF THE FOUNTAIN COMES. "

Very useful fountain with nice, cold water! It's not clearly labeled as "drinkable", but I drank it, and I'm still alive...
