The pillar in Mittweida is made of porphyry tuff, which is typical for this area, and dates from 1725. The pillar, which is inscribed on three sides, is located in the market square. As a special feature, it bears the Saxon-Polish double coat of arms on each of the four sides. The column was largely dismantled around 1850 and the base used to erect a candelabra. After the piece of coat of arms was found (1965), a reconstructed column was erected in 1969. This has been back on the market since 1984.
