At the highest point of the Hoxberg near Lebach, two huge blocks of stone, the so-called "cold stones", rise up in the middle of a dense deciduous forest. The popular saying goes that under these stones in a cave there are huge treasures guarded by dwarves. He also says that human sacrifices were made here earlier in Celtic times. Historians, however, consider this persistent legend to be rather improbable. Still - a mysterious place to this day. The hiking trails on and around the Hoxberg have been popular with hikers for many years because of the beautiful views and other attractions there - not just the Kaltensteine. That is why the city of Lebach, together with the Saarforst Landesbetrieb, which looks after the state forest there as well as the urban forests, has developed a circular hiking trail that is unique of its kind. It is not for nothing that the German Hiking Institute certified this trail as a premium hiking trail. The hiking trail, named "Kaltensteinpfad" because of its main attraction, is 7.7 kilometers long and takes 2.5 to 3 hours to walk, but the 350 meters of altitude to be conquered require a medium level of fitness and good footwear.
