Cows, horses, goats, sheep and chickens - there are all kinds of farm animals to see. Who lives there? How many eggs does a chicken lay? What is a hamburger made of? Lovingly designed information, play and adventure stations explain everything about the farms along the way, the animals and agricultural techniques and products. And in a petting zoo you can get very close to the animals. The highlight of the hiking trail is the “Hirztaler Village and Show Dairy”. Here you can not only look over the shoulder of the cheese maker, if you register in advance you can even take part in a guided tour including a tasting. And if shorter legs can no longer go any further in between, then shortcuts back to Hirzweiler are possible in many places. But maybe an extended break is enough. Nice, quiet picnic areas invite you to linger. And in between you can relax and take a breather on the sensory benches.

The German-French nature reserve Hammelsberg is the highlight of this short hike above the Saarland wine-growing community of Perl. Seventeen different, wild orchid species thrive on the sun-drenched limestone soils on the southern slope in the 30 hectare nature park. Fantastic views of Luxembourg, France and the Moselle valley round off this impressive hike in the border area between Germany and France. The jungle seems to begin behind Oberperl. Creepers, ivy and lianas hang from the trees, the path meanders along the slope, behind every bend unimagined glimpses of the thicket are revealed. This is followed by dream views of the Moselle valley as far as the Lorraine basin. On the left, the Lorraine community of Sierck-les-Bain. Vauban converted the former castle from the 11th century into a fortress. On the other side of the Moselle, the border between France and Luxembourg runs on the Stromberg. Right on the banks of the Moselle, Schengen, the municipality in Luxembourg where European history was written.Vines grow on the slopes of the Moselle in France, Luxembourg and Germany. Only a few kilometers on the right bank of the Moselle, wine is grown in Saarland and only Perl can adorn itself with the attribute "wine-growing community".On the sun-drenched limestone soils on the southern slope of the Hammelsberg, seventeen different, wild-growing orchid species and around a dozen orchids thrive in the 30-hectare nature park. The biotope of maple-ash forest in connection with extensive areas of limestone semi-arid grass became home to many heat-loving animal and plant species. If you are lucky you can watch the praying mantis on warm and dry spring days.

Today again a tour with the hiking friends.
Immediately after our start at the Wogbachtal hiking car park, it started off quite adventurously. It goes steeply uphill on a fairly narrow path. In the low weather a partly slippery affair.
And then we're already right in the middle of it. Driven hunt in the Wogbach valley. Again and again we meet hunters with firearms. Every now and then we hear a shot not too far away.
Add to that the hazy weather, when the rain stops, then foggy weather.
An adventurous hike over beautiful paths through a beautiful autumn forest.
However, we did not see the 13 fountains.
Unless the uncontrolled rivulets in the small ravines might also be one of them. 🤔

The path follows the traces of the baroque of Countess Marianne von der Leyen from Niederwürzbach and back again. On the way, fantastic views of the wide Bliesgaul landscape and the forest area around Niederwürzbach open up again and again.Bliesgau: Panoramic circular hiking trailThe "Würzbachschleife" of the Mariannenweg starts at the Würzbacher Weiher, the former summer residence of the imperial counts of the Leyen with the red building, the Annahof and the Philippsburg. These make the baroque age seem alive to this day.
The path leads past the Lourdes Grotto in Niederwürzbach back towards Blieskastel, over the Würzbacher Berg and the "Lettkaul" motocross track back to the local recreation area Würzbacher Weiher.

The Spitzenweg connects the reservoir with the highest village in Saarland.
Behind the campsite, the path runs directly on the shore of the Losheimer See. The silence is only broken here by the croaking of the frogs or the chattering of the ducks.
Between the shore zone and the circular lake path there is a swampy forest, which is laid out with wooden stepping stones. A short time later you have the opportunity to rest at the Kneipp facility.
A few meters behind the Kneipp facility, a meadow path leads into the nearby forest. Later there is a long, gentle ascent along the Metzenbach to two banks of the senses above an old quarry. The huge forest area of the Black Forest high forest conveys peace and tranquility in a special way.
Embedded in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, Scheiden is 495 meters above sea level, making it the highest village in Saarland.
From the edge of the village a breathtaking panoramic view over the Saarland, Lorraine and Luxembourg

The highlights of the hike are the steep descent into the Dhrontal via a huge wooden ladder and the mighty quartzite rocks. In between there are romantic passages along smaller forest streams and the Kleine Dhron as well as the high plateau between Beuren and Prosterath. A meadow path leads to the “Prosterather Wacken” whose foothills extend into the village.Hunsrück: Popular circular hiking trailThe starting point is the fisherman's hut at the fishing pond in the Krennerichtal. Through extensive forests it goes partly through a jungle landscape with streams and rocks. The initially almost inconspicuous rock formations become more powerful, wider and higher. Green-yellow lichens, boulders overgrown with moss and dark green ferns that seem to grow out of the stones can be seen in several lines of sight. There are two ways to descend into the valley of the Kleine Dhron, both of which require absolute surefootedness. In the valley of the Kleine Dhron, some towers over 40 meters high

The name says it all on the Traumschleife Waldzeit: dreamy forest passages, wildly romantic paths and shady spots to linger and relax - all this characterizes this premium hiking trail. The hiking experience is rounded off by scenic and cultural-historical highlights along the way, such as forest chapels, observation tower on the Krickelsberg, forest lake or open-air stage. From the starting point at the sports center in Hülzweiler, it goes past the forest chapel through the beautiful Schwalbach forest. The area is characterized by mining and so you can always find relics from this time within striking distance of the path, such as B. the 1936 built "Neyschacht". On the further course towards Krickelsberg you can enjoy views towards Elm and stroll through an enchanted avenue in the forest. The Krickelsberg tower rewards with extensive panoramas of the surrounding area.
In the extensive forest area around the Krickelsberg you hike on charming paths for a while before you reach the next highlight of the path with the “Dreibannstein” built in 1757. Here you are at the intersection of the former borders of Lorraine, the immediate Reichsbann and the county of Nassau-Saarbrücken.
A short time later, the Kneipp facility “Auf Schwarscht” invites you to take a relaxed break and tread water. Past the Schoenstatt Chapel on the outskirts of Hülzweiler, you then head towards Waldsee, a real gem of the Schwalbach community. Not far is the Hülzweiler open-air theater, one of the largest of its kind in southwest Germany. With a little luck, you might be able to attend a play or concert here - or you can simply enjoy a picnic in the audience area with an incomparable panoramic view of the stage. There is no better way to end a hike.
