Hiking Highlight
The Oudezijds Kolk is a narrow canal in the center of Amsterdam. It leads over the Zeedijk to the Open Havenfront from the extension of the Oudezijds Achterburgwal. Like the Geldersekade, it borders the Prins Hendrikkade in the north. Over the Kolksluis (bridge 302), which was built in the early 15th century, it served as a drainage canal to what was then the IJ, now Open Havenfront. Only one quay is passable, but only for pedestrians. The canal is connected to the Open Havenfront via the Kolkswaterkering (bridge 301).
The Oudezijds Kolk, often abbreviated to: OZ Kolk, is traditionally called "Het Kolkje".
