Four impressive brick viaducts in the Hollenstedt area are still reminiscent of the railway line opened in 1902. The railway line between Bremervörde and Buchholz (Nordheide) has largely been closed since 1968, and the railway embankment is often barely recognizable. But in the Hollenstedt area, four impressive brick viaducts are still a reminder of this. They were built together with the line from 1899 to 1902 so that the railway could cross the deep creek valleys here. These characteristic ridges were created during the Saale glacial period. In principle, the Prussian railway administration had the railway line built as part of a line between Berlin, Wittenberge (Elbe) and Bremerhaven – even if it was never used continuously. Filling up the railway embankments and crossing the moors was difficult, especially since the construction work still had to be carried out largely by hand. The most important aids were field railways. 90,000 cubic meters of soil alone were moved from the station area in Hollenstedt to the east in order to fill up the 19 meter high dam next to the Este Bridge. Another viaduct stands west of it, a smaller one on the other side of the highway. And the large brick bridge over the Staersbeck in the village of the same name is impressive.Place: Am Glockenberg and Dierstorfer Straße (south of the road in the forest), 21279 Hollenstedt, as well as: Forstweg, 21279 Staersbeckmetropolregion.hamburg.de/industriekultur/bruecken/15367376/eisenbahnbruecken-hollenstedt
