Wonderful tour over the Eckerlochstieg on the Brocken. This climb is the steepest, but it's worth it. The tour is not a problem with well-conditioned and sure-footed children. From very young to very old you meet all age groups. I don't want to imagine how overcrowded the ascent is when the weather is even better and it's holidays. It is essential to avoid such periods if you want to enjoy some quiet hiking while hiking😉.

Actually we wanted to start from another parking lot for hikers, but we got bogged down. Instead of a tour without meters in altitude and through the forest (at what felt like 40 ° C), we got a shorter tour with a few meters of altitude, but a wonderful view of Eltz Castle. As a reward, we were able to put our feet in the Elz that runs under the castle. The water is wonderfully clear and the nature around is beautiful.

Wonderful tour along the Calmont. We started from Ediger-Eller train station. From here you are right at the entrance to the via ferrata. The prospects are terrific. Due to the enormous heat, we are not as far as the summit cross (as far as I know, but you can still get there by car Auto), but as far as Bremm and then back to the train station on the bike path. The following information about the Calmont via ferrata: The paths are very narrow, directly on the slope and the terrain is partly alpine. Those who are not free from giddiness and sure-footed should leave it alone. We had a 5-year-old child with the appropriate characteristics and so I can say - also doable with children (but not without experience!). Along the via ferrata there are rest benches and occasionally shaded areas. Make appropriate preparations in warm weather and sunshine. The footwear should of course also be appropriate, if only because of the climbing passages.

Small circular hike that offers beautiful views and passages. Unfortunately I got sweaty on the hiking trail on the way back and am therefore along the bike path that runs a little further below. The Brüderweg is not particularly demanding as long as you are sure-footed and free from giddiness. Certainly to be done with children, if there is hiking experience. There is said to have been a bridge on the Brüderweg that collapsed (notes on the tree). The point can still be crossed easily, but also here - only with children with hiking experience.

Take advantage of the early hours of sunshine and go to the hiking slippers 😊☀️. A nice relaxed round along the Sebnitz and through the Schwarzbachtal. The tour leads through many bridges, many beautiful forest and meadow paths. Surefootedness should be ensured in some places, as the paths are sometimes narrow and in a few places long on the slope (rope available to hold on to).

Scenic area with some rock formations. The Saulochklamm can be easily integrated into a circular hike. However, anyone who expects a typical rustic gorge will be "disappointed" here. The gorge stretches over a length of 100-200 meters, still a beautiful place :). There is also parking in the field very close to the gorge if you don't want to walk far. From there it goes downhill on a narrow path to the gorge. The hiking trails around are very easy to walk on, but unfortunately sometimes very heavily "mashed" by horses. It is therefore advisable to put on appropriate hiking / mud shoes, especially if it rained the previous day.
