The so-called "Kaiserbuche" is located at a prominent crossroads. The imperial family is said to have held a picnic under a beech tree from time to time during their stays at Wilhelmshöhe Palace. The original beech fell in a lightning strike and so the beech standing next to it became the "imperial beech".
