Pechersk Lavra [a] (Ukrainian: Києво-Печерська лавра) - an Orthodox monastery in Kiev, the seat of the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
The history of the temple dates back to the mid-11th century, when the founders of the Lavra and the initiators of the monastic movement in Ruthenia - the monks Antoni and Theodosius - came to Kiev. The first monastery was built in 1051 [2] on the slopes of Transnistria - in caves (Ukrainian: pechera, pecheras - a cave, a cave), from which the name of the monastery is derived.

In the 11th century, the second igumen, Theodosius, introduced the Byzantine study rule, which provided for living in a monastic community and devoting oneself to constant prayer and work. Already in the 12th century, the monastery was considered a miraculous and cleansing place. History writing also developed in it [3]: the first Ruthenian chronicle was written here, among other things, the "The Annual Novel", also known as the "Nestor's Chronicle". In 1539, Eliasz Ostrogski, the prince of Volhynia and the starost of Vinnytsia, was buried in the parish.

Very interesting. Women, however, need a headscarf and a skirt. The second one can borrow there
