About Ma Rion

Today we started with an escort to the Thomas Müntzer town of Stolberg, which Martin Luther also visited one day.
That is the reason why the local stamp office is called Lutherbuche. We parked in the cold valley and first went towards the market. First impression: cute half-timbered village with narrow streets. A little Wernigerode or Goslar in small. First down to the left and then alongside the Thyra and then up a steep stairway up the mountain, we first enjoyed the view of the city and castle, and then got the HWN stamp 216. A little further on the upper ribbon path, then down a stair and zigzag path again we were soon at the knight's gate. From there we went to the castle, which has only been partially restored. Back down in town, we looked for a nice place to eat, which we found at Vogl’s game specialties in the quiet backyard. There you can also take sausage from game and cheese from the goat with you. On the way back to the parking lot, however, there was still room for a scoop of ice cream .... (The shop is called fire and ice, really good🤤)

Today I dragged the people to be educated to the old border fortifications, worrying about bringing them closer to the new German history. But I found out from the youngest that it was a thistle butterfly on my hand.
We walked a good part of the route on concrete slabs, with a beautiful view of Wurmberg and Brocken. From the stamp box we are on a long trampled path, sometimes quite close to the road, which was easy to hear.

To test the beautiful panorama path (as I call it) up to Schalke again. But it's actually called Kahlebergweg. This time the steep section to the Pötschner hut went without a break and pushed. On the way back via Auerhahn along the old Harzstrasse, Schlenker am Langer Teich and Hausherzbergerteich.

Unfortunately only pressed on recording at Hausherzberger ... but better than not at all.
Today I discovered a great gravel path for myself that goes below the Schalke. Great view of Clausthal! (Kahlebergweg). From there around the corner and then quite steep and long (but tarred) up to Schalke .... unfortunately I couldn't manage a non-motorized driver. So take a break first, then push. The way down is so much the better, namely the rough stony path. Again past the Zankwieser and Kiefhölzer, over Langer Teich to the HHberger.

Today early in the morning we went to the vicinity of Wernigerode. It was 5:10 a.m. when I left the Försterplatz hiking car park. First I went to the Armeleuteberg (I got the stamp last year) and had actually planned to leave the Kaiserturm on the left, but with the position of the sun I couldn't help but climb up there for a few photos on Wernigerode. Then it went on to Scharfenstein (HWN 034) and over the Astberg into the cold valley, where the Zillerbach flows. I then went on along the Zillerbach, against the course of the river. On the way I learned from Dennerttanne what an inheritance tunnel is (see photo) and found that there is a wind blowing out there like out of a refrigerator. Very refreshing! Then we went to the Zillerbachtalsperre and the Peterstein (HWN 036). From here over the dam and on over the Hilmersberg gradually back to the parking lot. Exactly 4 hours had passed, almost to the minute
