Uncertainty prevails over the early building history of the church. What is certain is that a new church was started around 1480, which then underwent several changes as a result. Today's late baroque building was built in 1794/98 by the local master builder Johann Jakob Haltinner and served both denominations until 1906.
The church underwent the last comprehensive renovations in 1972/76.
After the exterior renovation and interior cleaning in 2017/18, the church shines in new splendor.
