View of Château d'Avionpuits

The oldest buildings of this castle still exist and are integrated into the walls of the farm. One stone is dated 1586.

The castle of Avionpuits with the farm behind it dates from 1757. This pleasure castle replaced an old castle from the 13th century in 1757. It is built entirely in natural stone. Jean-Christophe-Joseph Vander Maesen is the origin of the current form of the castle of Avionpuits. At that time, the domain was an enclave of the Duchy of Limburg. On April 9, 1756, Jean-Christophe-Joseph bought the Avionpuits domain and started building the current castle. On April 19, 1757 he married Philippine Curione in Leipzig. He was 37 years old at the time, his wife barely 16. They would have 14 children. It is the youngest of his children, Hyacinthe Vander Maesen, who, by will, inherits the property. In 1857 the domain came into the hands of the Dallemagne Family. In 1960, Arnold-Charles-Théodore Pulinx had the artistic and cultural center of Avionpuits installed there. The whole thing was sold in 1978. Precautions are taken to respect the site and ensure that the architecture cannot be changed. Today, Avionpuits Castle is home to exceptional luxury apartments.

Beautiful spot at the castle of Avionpuits (private). Striking how even many meadows here have a rustic entrance with natural stone pillars. The lord of the castle made it clear who the meadow is/was.
