St roch - grimonster - werbomont - harre - st villers gertrude old furnace - malboutée - Ferrières. Winter unfolds its white coat and hisses a few creaks in deep silence. The loop is not completed because of a sprain at 19km. I had to say damn after 5km :)

Starting from the domain of palogne, we climb to the old foundations of 'Fort de Logne', nestled in a glowing autumn setting. Direction Ozo and its delicious cheese factories. Short stop to buy some goat manure and off we go. Next Bomal and its castle. A fun ascent to the 'Mont des Pins', crossing Barvaux then another ascent to Durbuy. We enjoy the view of the small medieval town on top of the rocks. We glide over the curves of the Ourthe before going up to Sy. The night surprises us, we reduce the way. Failing to climb the rocks of Sy, we admire them from below, along the river until we finish the loop.

Trou de Bra, known for its "Notre Dame De Lourdes grotto", is an Ardennes village with a religious history. Nestled in the valley of Lienne, it offers the leisure to go and discover the hills of fir trees, the meadows that rise around it and the Mierdeux stream.

Departing from Rahier, we discover the Beaver Site 🐾, a marsh that drinks the light in its foliage-covered waters. A pontoon allows you to cross the foam to let yourself be swallowed up in the vast forests of Coo. A smell of pine and wood hits the nostrils. We finally leave the kingdom of the giants 🌲🌲 for the vast meadows, at the bend of the viaduct of vennes. A little Hogwarts express atmosphere, where we hope to see the magic wagon appear 🚞. Small climb up to the château de froidcour 🏰, whose towers cut through the azure. Little signpost addict 🧭 forces us to crawl under barbed wire through fields to retrieve the path. The village of Cheneux and its history of the 1940-44 war grabs us for a beautiful finale.

In search of Notre Dame, very shy, nestled in a case of Amber and Light, on the outskirts of Pouhon. Saint-Anne swoons her stone in the gold of autumn. Once a year, Saint-Hubert is celebrated there, to the sound of the horns, to the eurythmy of horses and dogs who come to poke their eggs in the clearing.

The Gileppe lake and its dam in the calm gray of a Saturday afternoon 🏞🌫☁️. In the flanks of the waves, we appreciate the silence of the lost trails, sometimes along the lake, sometimes in the surrounding forests, devouring the cold air of a well established autumn 🍁🍃Last stop at the brewery of the dam. The restaurant perched in its 70m tower must give a beautiful view of the lake. Maybe next time.

Second day in the region. Sunday rhymes with a more relaxed day, at the rate of a shorter walk. We go in the other direction, towards Monteneau, through the communal forest of Malmedy and its endless pine trees 🌲. The end is lined with meadows and a beautiful view of the Ambleve valley.🏞🌱🌊

Malmedy ~ valley warche ~ Reinhardstein castle ~ robertville lake and dam ~ champagne ~ beer 🍻Discovering "Cantons de l'Est". What a luck, a weekend without hunting, rocked by a jovial sun during the whole ride 🌲☀️We calmly glide as far as Malmedy where the cathedral 🕍 vomits its beauty to us. We leave its bucolic streets to climb the summits 🥾. Sporting step up to "valley of warche" and next, to Reinhardstein castle🏰 , a jewel that cuts through the redness of autumn 🍂🍁🍃. The trails lead us to the lake of robertville and its amazin dam 🏞, quiet immensity, the calm seizes us and, exhausted, we flow on the second section of the hike, much quieter through the green pastures and the forests yellowing happily. A wonderful discovery of the east of our country 🌱🐎🐂🦌 autumn is so beautiful!
