    Hiking

Not far from the Magdala grotto is the remnant of the Richard Wagner beech. R. Wagner spent the night in Magdala in May 1849 on the run and set off for Jena the next day. In his memory there is a tree on a small trail.
In Jena he then received a false passport and was able to continue his escape to Switzerland.
