At this point there is a beautiful forest path. The mostly rarely used forest path offers a varied subsoil made of soft but not too earthy forest floor, with a pleasant proportion of small roots traversed by it. Along the Bäke "Füchteler Bach" it goes curvy through the forest. So if you are close by with your MTB you should like to leave the otherwise rather gravel-heavy paths in Füchtel and explore this path.

      Gut Füchtel

Located in the idyllic forest of the same name, Gut Füchtel is perfect for horse lovers, nature lovers, and anyone who simply wants to get away from it all.

Built in the 14th century, the former moated castle is now famous for breeding highly prized Oldenburg horses. In addition to animal breeding, the estate is also popular with day-trippers, cyclists, and hikers due to its ideal location on the "Pickerweg" hiking trail. Well-maintained paths lead through the beautiful landscape and invite you to relax far from the hustle and bustle of the city.

After a walk through the forest, Gut Füchtel invites you to take a relaxing break. A few years ago, the former manager's apartment was converted into a small but charming café and bistro. Under the dense canopy of the tall trees, with the babbling of the Füchtel stream in your ears and a view of the horse paddocks, the cakes, all freshly homemade, taste twice as good.

In the house itself, you'll find relics of the past everywhere. For example, the coat of arms of the owner families is emblazoned above the tiled stove in the old farmhouse. The estate has been owned by the Counts of Merveldt since 1898 through marriage and inheritance. The Barons of Elmendorff were the previous owners for over 500 years, starting in 1331. The chapel with its beautiful Baroque altar was built in 1754.

Living in a romantic setting in the heart of the forest: The Gut Füchtel guesthouse opened a few years ago on the site where the estate's hayloft once stood. The five apartments are all modernly furnished and offer a very special vacation experience.
