Many people simply drive past this work of art even though it is right on the bike path. This is probably due to the high weeds that are slowly making the whole "new town" disappear. What a pity! We had a lot of fun here because you can discover an incredible number of small details. A total of 23 sculptures form a fictional city, which is made up of various real buildings on a scale of 1:25 that have been demolished in the Ruhr area since the turn of the millennium. Julius von Bismarck and Marta Dyachenko created a Wilhelminian tenement house in Essen, for example, as well as the residential complex of a former model housing estate in Marl from 1965, and other residential units in the prefabricated building style tell of the social history of the 1970s. The Paulskirche in Duisburg or the St. Josef church in Essen-Kupferdreh, which was completed in 1904 in the neo-Gothic style and demolished in 2015.
