The "Klostermühle Lahde" is one of 11 historic mills in the city of Petershagen. Built in 1876, the Dutch windmill, built with a conical tower windmill on an older watermill building, was first documented in 1292 as the mill of the Dominican nunnery. Previously, milling was done for rye, wheat, meal and groats. Until 1930, the mill was also used as an oil mill. Later, the modern grinder was driven by a turbine through the water of the dammed up floodplain. In 1998, the company was finally closed after more than 700 years.

    Opening hours:
Dt. Mill Day (Whit Monday), Kreismühlentag (4th Sunday in August), meal and baking days in the Mühlenkreis Minden-Lübbecke.
A visit is possible on request.

The Lahde Monastery Mill is a unique technical cultural monument and one of the few combined wind and watermills in Germany. First documented in 1292 as the watermill of St. Mary's Monastery, it was supplemented by a two-story gallery mill in 1876 after a fire. This rare combination made it possible to use water power during calm periods and wind power during low tides. Today, the mill is part of the Westphalian Mill Route and a worthwhile stop for culture-loving cyclists and hikers.
