The history of winter sulgen goes back a very long time. The first documentary mention comes from the year 849, when the Bishop of Constance ceded real estate to the monastery of Sankt Gallen. The current chapel was built in the Baroque period and was last extended in 1895 by the third window axis. The spatial structure with its balanced proportions has a harmonious effect.

The chapel is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, who can be seen as a splendid protective mantle Madonna in the altar at the front. With the blossoming devotion to Mary in the late Middle Ages, Mary appeared as "Mater omnium" (mother of all). Maria is graceful, girlish and slim. In her cloak, which is open in the shape of a bowl, she hides densely packed figures of spiritual and secular representatives. One side belongs to the clergy. Depicted are a pope, a cardinal, a bishop, other clerics as well as monks and nuns. The emperor, king and duke as well as citizens appear opposite. The beautiful protective coat Madonna is attributed to the master Melchior Binders from Hundersingen and dates from the 16th century.
