Situated within a lovely little urban park, Clay House is a fine 17th-century Jacobean building. The site has been occupied since at least the 13th century and is today owned by Calderdale Council. Its terraces and gardens make for photogenic foregrounds.

Clay House is the official start and end point of the Calderdale Way, a 50-mile long-distance hike that loops around the valley, exploring its wild moors and scenic countryside.
