Apparently, it is the only village with a canal alongside the main street!
Commercial Hotel is recommended, located next to the main street (and canal) with a small sitting area out the front. It has an excellent selection of real ales including a couple of their own at very keen prices. Good selection of pubs and restaurants, so a good place for a stop when on a long-distance tour.

Fabulous staff very friendly. The bakery is open for take away only at the moment

Pronounced by locals as Sla-Wit, Slaithwaite is a Yorkshire town that is getting trendier by the moment. Aided perhaps by the restoration of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal in 2001.

Slaithwaite's history is in the textile industry, now you're more likely to find independent shops and plenty of cafes and bars to replenish energy stores.
