Muggendorf is located at 304 meters on the Wiesent. Franconian Switzerland used to be called Muggendorfer Gebürg, and the village gave it its name. There are numerous stalactite caves nearby, also known as Muggendorf caves. These include, among others, the Rosenmüllerhöhle, the Oswaldhöhle, the Witzenhöhle, the Wundershöhle and the Doctors' Cave. From Muggendorf, numerous hiking trails lead through the beautiful natural landscape.
