    Kölschhäuser Koppe
A hike through the Hörre to Kölschhäuser Koppe is always a great experience. Partly along the land you can walk through the forest to Koppe on beautiful forest trails and enjoy nature.
The Koppe itself and its surroundings have become the first nature reserve in Altkreis Wetzlar since the 1930s. Otherwise it would probably not exist anymore because of the further basalt mining.
Basalt cones up to 20m high can be admired there.
They probably originated when a magma chamber opened and the up to 1,200 degrees hot lava flowed out and quickly cooled. Basalt has been popular as a building material for centuries. In the Westerwald, basalt mining in the 19th and 20th centuries was a very important economic factor.

When the weather is nice, simply a great view. Slippery ascent / descent in wet weather.
