The Lanstroper Egg is a widely visible water tower in the northeast of Dortmund, which owes its nickname to its distinctive shape. Despite its name and its proximity to the Lanstrop district, the tower is actually located in the Grevel district. The water tower was built in 1904 by A. Klönne, a renowned industrial construction company. It supplied water to the surrounding mines and households and served as a water reservoir until 1981. The tower is characterized by a steel K-frame structure and a large, egg-shaped steel tank with a capacity of 2000 m³.
