Water wheel, Jan Vos. The water and the wind set the colossus in motion, that is the idea of this work of art. Artist Jan Vos wanted his work to be placed outside the dike. To prevent the wheel from drifting and posing a danger to shipping, it had to be anchored with chains and riveted to a concrete foundation. The Water Board thought it was a good concept, but foresaw problems due to the unpredictable power of the water.
