A tower in a ditch, there's something like that here in Überlingen. 🤩
Isn't it a bit strange? In the middle of an old defensive ditch in Überlingen stands a tower with loopholes and battlements. However, it's not a medieval defensive tower; it's actually a vent for a long railway tunnel through which steam locomotives 🚂 ran a good 100 years ago – and the clouds of smoke 💭 had to go somewhere. So it's no wonder that the tower in Überlingen is also known as the Rapunzel Tower and once fueled many imaginations.

The tower is a vent for a long railway tunnel through which steam locomotives still drove a good 100 years ago.

Very nicely "camouflaged" chimney. The train runs through a tunnel underneath. The tower was needed to let the smoke from the steam locomotive escape.
