The ditch warden used to live in the Sperberhaier Dammhaus to inspect the ditches. Today the Dammhaus is a well-known excursion restaurant with a coffee garden and a toboggan run.

The dam house was built together with the Sperberhaier dam in the years 1732-1734, which closed a gap in the Upper Harz water shelf and bridged a shallow valley at a height of up to 16 m. The dam is a kind of pre-industrial mining aqueduct.
Today:
Outstanding cuisine at reasonable prices. Very friendly service.
