The Tower of Our Lady (Dutch: Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren) is a free-standing church tower in Amersfoort. The late Gothic building is 98.33 meters high (measured to the rooster) and rises high above the city center. This makes it one of the most striking buildings in the city and the third highest church tower in the Netherlands. The tower is nicknamed "Lange Jan". The tower originally belonged to a church that was destroyed in the 18th century. The tower is the central point of the Dutch map projection of the Rijksdriehoeksmeting ("Reichsdriecksmeting", with the coordinates +155 000 m +463 000 m). A beautiful target during the walk through Amersfoort; visible from every angle, that Lange Jan.
Moreover, as a geographical center of the Netherlands an interesting building!
