As a city museum, the Flehite Museum naturally deals with the city history of Amersfoort, illustrated by medieval treasures and paintings. For example, one learns how carpenter Leendert Nicasiusz knew how to tame the fire in the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwetoren in 1651. The city crate from the 15th century is an eye-catcher. The box is made of only one piece of wood and has nine locks. Among other things, the proceeds of fines and the silver seal stamp of the city were preserved. In order to prevent one or the other from mistaking the contents of the box, the keys were kept by various city dignitaries. The Museum Flehite is of course also about the miracle of Amersfoort, the image of Mary, which worked miracles for centuries and made the city a place of pilgrimage, and Johan van Oldenbarnevelt, who played an important role in the genesis of today's Netherlands. On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of Johan van Oldenbarnevelt's death in 2019, an exhibition is taking place in the museum, in which one can admire, among other things, the sword of Barnevelt's beheading.
