The Hainberg Observatory is operated by the Amateur Astronomical Association Göttingen e.V. (AVG). At the entrance of the sun tower (white building) you will find flyers for the events 2017/2018. On 10.09.2017 (Open Monument Day), the observatory will be open for sightseeing and observation from 10:00.

This is not just any observatory, this is the location of the Hainberg astrograph. Karl Schwarzschild and Ejnar Hertzsprung did research here. History of science was written here.
Nowadays this area is lovingly looked after by the Amateur Astronomical Association Göttingen e.V. This also includes the possibility of public tours. Dates and a lot of interesting information can be found at avgoe.de. It is worth it!
