During the Battle of Arnhem in September 1944, part of the military operation Market Garden, Hartenstein became the headquarters of the British airborne forces during heavy fighting. The daring attempt to force a quick passage to the Ruhr area and end the Second World War failed. The bridge at Arnhem turned out to be A Bridge Too Far. Now Hartenstein tells the personal stories of British, Polish, German soldiers and civilians, all interpreted by the unique collection pieces of the museum.
