The Höfener or Perlenbacher Mühle is located on an old cart path between Höfen and Kalterherberg. It was built around 1805 and initially had only one, later two grinding passages with an overshot water wheel (inlet from above).
The millers also ran a small farm and a restaurant where
the customers drove away the waiting with schnapps and card games. were ground
especially barley and oats for animal feed and rye for Eifel brown bread.
