Perched on Chicago's lakeshore since 1930, the Adler Planetarium serves as a celestial bridge, uniting people with the vast universe and each other. Beyond its annual half-million visitors, the Adler extends its cosmic reach through youth STEAM programs, community skywatching events, and online citizen science initiatives. Rooted in a century-long commitment to fostering meaningful connections, the Adler's approach blends scientific exploration with community engagement. Whether unveiling the mysteries of the Ring Nebula or collaborating in citizen science endeavors, the Adler Planetarium empowers global audiences to explore the universe and approach challenges with critical thinking.

In front of the planetarium quite fitting a skulpture of Copernicus has been set up.

" Since 1837, Chicago’s Polish community has made huge contributions to the city’s economic, social and cultural well-being. It was therefore fitting to erect a monument to Poland’s greatest astronomer, Nicolaus Copernicus (1473 – 1543).

Considered the father of modern astronomy, Copernicus challenged age-old beliefs. He pioneered the theory that the earth was not the center of the solar system and instead revolved around the sun. His theories changed science forever. This monument was erected to mark Copernicus’ 500th birthday." (statuestorieschicago.com/statues/statue-copernicus/)

On a dark night you can see around 3500 stars with the naked eye. In Chicago only 35 because of the light pollution. It's good that there is a planetarium to enjoy the splendor of the night sky and infinity at least artificially projected.
