Here too you cross an old track during your walk (see other highlight). Waterschei used to have a small station near the mining site. After it was abolished, the railway line As-Waterschei-Eisden was operated for a while for tourist purposes by the non-profit organization Kolenspoor.

Here and there you can see rails on the grounds of the park. They, too, are remnants of the region's industrial history; they were used to transport coal or transport workers and materials. They were the main arteries of industrial development - and are more familiar to us than other remnants.
Rails connect us to yesterday. While winding towers and slag heaps are simply relics, they still stand for progress and movement - today as a symbol for sustainable travel and transport.
