The grain windmill on the Ochtruper Berg is one of the last Dutch-style windmills of the "Wallholländer" type. Wallholländer means that the windmill stands on a wall, the hull is rigid and only the cap with the wings is turned into the wind.It is protected as a monument and is a landmark for the town of Ochtrup. The mill was built in 1848. With the demise of windmills in Westphalia, the Ochtruper mill was also shut down in 1955 until the local history association began the first renovation work on the mill in 1972.Between 1988 and 1992, a thorough renovation took place to restore the functionality of the mountain windmill. Today, windmillers from the Nobbenhuis family are once again working on the mill.Source: muensterland.de/deals/detail/628381a9fa121e0c59deba3f
