Not far from the ski stadium, a short walk from the Muldenderger Straße car park, is the Kleine Affenstein. Like all other stones around Grünbach, it is made of greywacke quartzite. On a hike to the Rehhübel, the path leads past it.In the immediate vicinity was also the large monkey stone, but it fell victim to road construction, since natural stone was often used as a building material. The name Affenstein has nothing to do with the animal. Originally the name was Uhustein because the eagle owl nested there. Immigrants from Upper Franconia called the owl Auff, which is how the name Auffenstein came about. But the Vogtländer didn't speak Au (Woman means Fraa in Vogtland), so Auffenstein became Affenstein. The Affenstein is a legendary stone, where the Winselmutter appears at the full moon!!!!Source: gruenbach.de/freizeit_aktiv/sehenswertes_rund_um_gruenbach-muldenberg/klein_affenstein/index.php

The Kleiner Affenstein rock formation has been designated a natural monument since August 15, 1938.
The Kleiner Affenstein is located at an elevation of 715 m, approximately 100 m west of the Grünbach-Muldenberg road and approximately 700 m from the southern edge of Grünbach in a wooded area. The Kleiner Affenstein geosite is connected to Felsenweg 1 of the LEADER regional management project "Legendary Vogtland."
In the immediate vicinity is the Großer Affenstein, which was quarried for road gravel in the mid-20th century.
